So What

When dust settles
birds land
and ants emerge again

When rain falls
in weak attempts
to wash away their sin

Buildings crumble
children sing
your mother cries for him

But all for naught
theres nothing left
this world you’re living in

We saw them try
to build once more
society begins

From rubble pits
great windows rise
with sunlight trickling in

Fields regrew
we sang once more
we thought that we could win

But hope
was not so long to stand
this world we’re living in

Fields wilt
and great walls lie
they fall apart again

Widows weep
and young men die
the armies marching in

Sing your song,
oh mockingbird
please play it once again

So what,
I shouldn’t have believed
I got to go again

So what,
I should have
known that I
was crumbling outside in

So what,
I should have seen the signs
said end and not begin.
